Question regarding Live supscription

Thu Jul 10, 2014 12:26 am

I'm curious as to why you charge a subscription fee for use of Live?

Does it have some recurring cost on the part of your company? I am admittedly ignorant on how the software works, but all I will say is that there are programs out there like Open Broadcaster Software, which is free and very capable, even as a gameplay recorder. It would make your product much more desirable if you offered the livestreaming service for free.

On your products page for Live, there is a section called "Why do I need a subscription?" but you don't answer that question. All you say is it's required to livestream.

Just because something is considered an industry standard thanks to companies like XSplit, doesn't mean you guys have to stick to the same model. Imagine all the positive reviews you'd receive if you made the service free! I for one would not hesitate to make a video recommending this product to others.

Live streaming subscription is required due to additional license costs. OBS does not have to cover these fees since it's a free software (open source).
