Action! WIll not record game using Direct3D mode

I'm am trying to record gameplay using DirectX mode, but the HUD does not show up in the game, and it doesn't record when I press the record button. I am using the game engine: tomb4.exe which is the Tomb Raider 4: Last Revelation game engine. (PC) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried running your game first and then switch back to desktop to start Action? Make sure that this game is running under DX8 or higher.

Yes I have, and that didn't work. The game I believe uses DirectX7.
