Recording time freezes whilst recording.

Fri Dec 19, 2014 10:55 pm

I have noticed that when I am playing a game (example MW3 PC), when i am recording, the fps goes to 60 (which i set it too) then timer then goes to lets say 3 seconds then it freezes. The fps rate stays at 60 and fluctuates between 59-61 which i think is normal.

The next problem is once I have started recording and playing it sticks to that time it started to freeze at and doesn't change. Once i hit F9 to stop recording I look back and it skips a chunk of the recording. I am unsure if its due to the refresh rate my monitor is at which is 72Hz and the game is set to that in the settings.

Is there something am doing wrong or is it to do with the refresh rate of my monitor causing an issue with the software?

I can upload the footage am explaining about upon request if you need too.

- Thanks

I have now found out that its not recording the whole time. It records upto a certain time, example being the first 3 seconds of the recording then it freezes and then continues to record and a chunk of the video is missing. This does it several times through the whole video.

I recorded in 240p and 30fps and it never skipped once. Then on 480p it skips at times.

Whats happening that i am unaware about? It used to work fine before without an issue....

I found out why this was happening.

Its due to your HDD Write speed. I think your HDD has to be at least above 50MB/s write speed in order to record at the high settings.
The link below shows what my HDD write speeds are for 1000MB file. This was done with dxtory since I have that also.

As long as your HDD can write above 75MB/s continuously during recording you should be fine.

The following will work based off a 75MB/s + write speed. It worked for me. But that can be different for some other users. Just from my experience of problem solving this.
