Action! Recording Drops Frames When Using Multiple Monitors – Any Fix?

Mon Nov 17, 2025 2:40 am

Hi everyone, I recently started using Action! to record gameplay while having a dual-monitor setup. I’ve noticed that whenever I move my cursor between monitors during recording, Action! sometimes drops frames or the recording stutters slightly. My PC specs are: CPU i7-13700K, RTX 4070, Windows 11 Pro. Has anyone experienced the same issue, and is there a recommended setting or workaround to prevent frame drops when using multiple monitors?

I’ve seen this with high refresh rate mismatches between monitors. Try setting both displays to the same refresh rate and disabling hardware acceleration in Action! to see if it helps.

I’ve seen similar behavior with Action! when using multiple monitors, especially if the displays run at different refresh rates. Cursor movement between screens can cause brief frame pacing issues in some capture tools. A couple things that helped me were setting both monitors to the same refresh rate and switching Action! to NVENC instead of default hardware capture. Also try disabling Windows’ “Variable Refresh Rate” option and turning off any overlays (Discord, GeForce, etc.). If the problem disappears afterward, it’s usually a timing conflict rather than a hardware limitation.

I've experienced those frame pacing issues with multiple monitors myself. Syncing refresh rates and switching to NVENC in Action! really made a difference. Thanks for the tip on disabling Variable Refresh Rate and overlays – will definitely try that!

This is a common Action! issue with dual monitors. Lock recording to a single display or the active window, disable mouse cursor capture, and try fullscreen exclusive mode. That usually stops the stutter when moving the cursor between screens.

Yeah, I’ve run into something similar with Action! on a dual-monitor setup. In my case it helped to run both monitors at the same refresh rate and disable G-SYNC/FreeSync while recording, since moving the cursor between screens can cause a brief sync hiccup. Also try switching Action! to GPU-only encoding (NVENC) and running it as admin. Not perfect, but it noticeably reduced the stutters for me.
