Action! 4 audio desync on dual-monitor HDR setup (Windows 11)

Tue Apr 14, 2026 4:21 pm

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using Mirillis Action! 4 to record gameplay on a dual-monitor setup, and I keep running into an audio sync problem that I can’t seem to fix.

My setup is:

Windows 11 (24H2)
Primary monitor: 144Hz HDR enabled (gaming)
Secondary monitor: 60Hz (browser/Discord)
GPU encoding enabled (NVENC)
Audio source: system sound + microphone mixed

The issue is that after recording for about 10–15 minutes, the audio gradually starts to drift out of sync with the video (it becomes slightly delayed). It doesn’t happen immediately, only after some time into the recording.

I’ve already tried:

Switching between NVENC and software encoding
Matching sample rates (48 kHz) in Windows sound settings
Disabling/reenabling HDR
Recording to different drives (SSD vs HDD)

Has anyone experienced something similar with Action! 4 on HDR multi-monitor setups? Is there a recommended setting combination to prevent audio drift during longer recordings?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Try recording in 30 fps and see if the same problem occurs.

I had something similar — it looks like timing drift with mixed frequencies (144Hz + 60Hz) and HDR. Try equalizing the refresh rate of both monitors or temporarily turning off HDR, and also recording audio on separate tracks instead of a mix — this fixed the desync for me after long recordings 👍
