depending on processor.
E.g. Atom N270 can handle 720p hardly (not any video, even some 1024x576 are lagging) but dual core Atom (like N550) can.
On the other hand if netbook has GPU with capability of h/w acceleration video (like nVidia ION) - it's can play any video.
Desktop (Intel i7-970, ATI 5870, Windows 7 x64)
Acer Aspire TimelineX 3830TG (Intel i5-2410M, nVidia GT540M, Windows 7 x64)
PS Vita, Nokia N8

You have 2 solutions:

1.Use MPC-HC with CoreAVC codec. It worked properly with 720p but with 90% cpu usage (using first generation Atom)
2.Seek for an Mini PCI express slot on your netbook. Then buy on ebay Broadcom Crystal HD booster, insert it and you can play 1080p with 50% cpu usage with just Splash PRO player.

PS: Mini PCI Express is the same slot as the Wireless Card on most laptops.
Broadcom chipsets are: Broadcom BCM70012 BCM970012 BCM70010

I still rely on on VLC from time to time only for ISO playback as Splash nor does Splayer handle these file ext. I only use ISO's for compilation DVDs im too lazy to convert over. All my films etc, if not from a BR source are in an .avi container, otherwise if they are from a BR source they are always in MKV.

Does anyone know if messing around with the EconoMode in splash makes it capable to at least play 720 files on a netbook?
ISO playback would be an awesome addition :D

We plan to add support for ISO in the future.
