E.g. Atom N270 can handle 720p hardly (not any video, even some 1024x576 are lagging) but dual core Atom (like N550) can.
On the other hand if netbook has GPU with capability of h/w acceleration video (like nVidia ION) - it's can play any video.
You have 2 solutions:
1.Use MPC-HC with CoreAVC codec. It worked properly with 720p but with 90% cpu usage (using first generation Atom)
2.Seek for an Mini PCI express slot on your netbook. Then buy on ebay Broadcom Crystal HD booster, insert it and you can play 1080p with 50% cpu usage with just Splash PRO player.
PS: Mini PCI Express is the same slot as the Wireless Card on most laptops.
