H.265/HEVC screen recording with NVIDIA NVENC acceleration

From Action! 1.31.0 it is possible to record screen with H.265/HEVC using NVIDIA NVENC hardware acceleration. Using H.265/HEVC with NVIDIA NVENC hardware acceleration allows to make high quality, low bitrate, smooth screen recordings, producing smaller screen recording files compared to H.264/AVC.

Please check the list below to see if your computer meets all requirements to use NVIDIA NVENC hardware accelerated H.265/HEVC video encoding.

Requirements for NVIDIA NVENC H.265/HEVC recording acceleration

System requirements to use NVIDIA NVENC hardware accelerated screen recording:

  • Laptop: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M or higher
  • Desktop PC: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 or higher
  • The latest Action! version
  • NVIDIA GPU drover R358 or above

Setting NVIDIA NVENC H.265/HEVC for screen recording

To use NVIDIA NVENC acceleration for H.265/HEVC screen recording start Action! and go to Video Capture/Recording tab. Check File format and hardware acceleraction settings and select MP4 / NVIDIA NVENC HEVC. If you do not see NVIDIA NVENC HEVC on the list please make sure that your PC meets all NVIDIA NVENC H.265/HEVC hardware acceleration requirements.

Action! player for H.265/HEVC screen recordings playback
You can quickly playback all your H.265/HEVC screen recordings with fast, internal Action! player. Use mouse double click on a thumbnail with your H.265/HEVC screen recording to run Action! player and start video playback.
