1. What Is Remote Webcam Streaming?
The remote webcam streaming feature was originally developed for security of ‘unattended’ connections (connections from your device to your another device). With webcam streaming on your remote computer, you can check if anyone else is accessing it (for example, when connecting to your home or office computer). Remotly users also use this feature to check how their pets are doing. Webcam streaming isn’t available for connections to third parties (via invitations or ID codes) – in other words, you can’t view another person’s webcam.
2. Step-by-Step Tutorial for Enabling Webcam Streaming
There are two methods to get a view from your remote webcam, and both are described below:
First Method:
1. Connect to your home PC via Remotly.
2. Go to the Remotly interface on your remote PC.
3. Click Settings in the bottom-left corner.
4. Navigate to the Webcam tab.
5. Toggle Stream video from webcams to “Yes.”
6. Enjoy watching your adorable pet in real-time!
Second Method (Using a Shortcut):
While connected, press Right Control + F12 to start streaming. For mobile devices, you can enable the remote keyboard mode, hold Right Ctrl (RCtrl) until it highlights blue, then press F12. To disable streaming, simply use the same shortcut again.
3. Power Consumption – Why You Don’t Have to Worry
